Prayer Update - June 30, 2010

Featured Church/Mission: Christ the Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Portland, Maine (Pastor Doug Warren)
Please join us in praising God for these answered prayers:
1. We have a new office space on a main street going into Portland that will allow our staff to have a place to work and also provide a meeting place for small groups and ministry outreach.
2. God continues to bring visitors to the worship service and we have been thrilled with some new families returning and expressing interest in serving Christ with CTR.
3. We have a group of communicants going through a class and study guide in preparation for their first communion.
Please continue to boldly ask God for the following:
1. Wisdom for our elders and deacons as they spend time this summer seeking the Lord’s guidance and clarified direction.
2. Good attendance and significant fruit from our two summer camps. Explorer Camp is July 19-23 and VBS is August 2- 6. Both are being held at Lyseth Elementary School.
3. Physical healing and relief for several in our congregation struggling with disease and sleep disorders.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: Keene, New Hampshire

1. Pray for the people of Keene and for the spiritual and material prosperity of people in the western part of New Hampshire.
2. Pray for the reformation of the church in Keene and for God’s blessing upon the evangelical churches there.
3. Pray for God’s provision of a church planter to establish a new church in Keene.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire

1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Keene State College during their summer break and for the school’s impact on the state through the large number of public school teachers who study there.
2. Pray for the campus ministries at Keene State, including the work of Campus Crusade for Christ.

MNA Committee work:
Burlington: Continue to pray for the committee’s work toward preparing for a joint church planting/RUF work in Burlington, VT. Pray in particular for:
1. The committee as it evaluates a strong candidate for the church planting position and for his own consideration of God’s calling.
2. Ongoing efforts to connect with potential prayer and financial partners for the work in Burlington.

NNEP:
Meeting: Pray for God’s blessing upon the preparations for the next NNEP presbytery meeting (schedule for July 17).
General Assembly: Pray for the ongoing PCA General Assembly (6/29-7/2) and for the safe return of those attending from NNEP.
Mike Viera: Pray for Mike as he continues to serve with the Army reserves in Afghanistan and for his wife and children at home.

Featured Church/Mission: Exeter Presbyterian Church, Exeter, New Hampshire (Pastor Steve Magee)
1. Pray for fruitful engagement in our communities and especially in our extended families.
2. Pray for perseverance in proclaiming from the Scriptures the message of Christ, the cross, and the resurrection.
3. Pray for growth in faith, hope, and love as a congregation.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: Raymond, New Hampshire
1. Pray for the people of the growing town of Raymond and especially for the spiritual growth of the many young families in town.
2. Pray for the progress of the church in Raymond and the surrounding communities.
3. Pray that God would raise up men equipped to plant churches in the small towns of northern New England.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: Colby College (Waterville, Maine)
1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Colby College during their summer break.
2. Pray for the campus ministries at Colby, including Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ. Pray for a strong evangelical witness among the student population there.
3. Pray for the encouragement of Christian students at the school and the evangelical churches in the community.

Herb Shipman: Pray for strong prayer and financial support for Herb’s ministry among the dairy farmers in the second half of the year. Give thanks for the spiritual fruit that God has brought about through his labors.
Mike Viera: Pray for Mike as he continues to serve with the Army reserves in Afghanistan and for his wife and children at home.

Prayer Update - June 2, 2010

Featured Church/Mission: Church of the Redeemer, Manchester, New Hampshire (Pastor Jon Taylor)
1. We praise God for a successful semester of English as a Second Language and for the families impacted by this ministry.
2. Please pray for Pastor Jon Taylor as he takes some time away from the pulpit this summer for prayer, planning and family time.
3. Pray for our Summer Kids' Club in Sheriden-Emmett Park July 26 - 30, both for children who attended Pioneer Clubs to come as well as many new children from the neighborhood to hear the gospel.
4. Pray for wisdom for our session as we exercise discipline and attempt to lead CTR in worship, discipleship and mission.
5. Pray for several people at CTR who are seeking God (and being sought) and considering professing their faith.
6. Praise God for providing financially for us in a difficult economy.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: Berlin, New Hampshire
1. Pray for the work of God’s Spirit in the north country of New Hampshire and especially in the town of Berlin.
2. Pray for good economic opportunities for the people of Berlin and the surrounding region.
3. Pray for the resources necessary for the planting of churches in the rural regions of northern New England.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: Bates College
1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Bates College as they take their break between academic years.
2. Pray for the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship group at Bates and for a strong evangelical witness among the student population there.
3. Pray for the encouragement of Christian students at the school.

MNA Committee work:
Burlington: Continue to pray for the committee’s work toward preparing for a joint church planting/RUF work in Burlington, VT. Pray in particular for:
1. The committee’s meeting next Wednesday (June 9), as we consider our next steps in the Burlington project and the overall church planting vision of the committee.
2. The committee’s contacts with and evaluations of new candidates for the lead positions in Burlington.
