Prayer Update - December 22, 2009

Featured Church/Mission: Faith Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, NH (Pastor Mike Kooy)
1. New members class: please pray for those attending our new members class starting in January.
2. Financial support: pray that the Lord would continue to provide for our budget shortfall through outside support.
3. Shiloh Retreat Ministries: pray that the Lord would fill their calendar with retreats and that the Lord would continue to provide for all their needs.
4. Pray for Faith Presbyterian Church to be a light to the lost here in northern New Hampshire. Pray that the Holy Spirit would change hearts in our area and make them receptive to the Gospel. Pray that we would be bold witnesses for Christ in our community.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: Raymond, New Hampshire
1. Pray for the people of the growing town of Raymond and especially for the spiritual growth of the many young families in town.
2. Pray for the progress of the church in Raymond and the surrounding communities.
3. Pray that God would raise up men equipped to plant churches in the small towns of northern New England.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: Colby College (Waterville, Maine)
1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Colby College as they prepare for the spring semester.
2. Pray for the campus ministries at Colby, including Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ. Pray for a strong evangelical witness among the student population there.
3. Pray for the encouragement of Christian students at the school and the evangelical churches in the community.

2. Continue to pray for James Cochell, a recent graduate of Gordon-Conwell (NC campus), and family as he pursues several job opportunities in New England and the possibility of relocating to Nashua, NH, to work with Christ Presbyterian Church.
3. Continue to pray for Mike Viera, a seminary student and candidate under care in NNEP, as he makes final preparations for a one-year deployment to Afghanistan as a member of the Army reserves. Pray for his wife Andrea and three children as they prepare for this time away from Mike.

1. Please give thanks for the ways God is using our new location and FPC having a facility to use all through the week.
2. Please pray for the officer candidates we have in training as they prepare to meet with the session for examination.

1. Pray for the work of God’s Spirit in the north country of New Hampshire and especially in the town of Berlin.

3. Pray for the resources necessary for the planting of churches in the rural regions of northern New England.

1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Bates College as they conclude the fall semester and look to the beginning of the spring semester.

Prayer Update - November 25, 2009

Featured Church/Mission: Grace Presbyterian Church, Laconia, NH (Pastor Andy Wilson)
1) Covenant Children: We are thankful to the Lord for the safe births of four new covenant children over the past few months, and for the twelve covenant children who have been baptized at our church this year. Please pray for parents to be faithful in the Christian nurture of their children, and for the Lord's protection over another woman in the church who is expecting at this time.
2) Leadership: Pray for our congregation as members have the opportunity over the next few weeks to nominate men to the office of ruling elder or deacon. Pray that the Lord would provide additional officers for our church.

Update from Christ Presbyterian Church, Nashua, NH (Pastor Jason Wakefield)
1. We are about $10,000 behind in our giving as we approach halfway through our budget. We are able to pay our bills but in the spring we will have increased expenses. Pray for our financial health.
2. We still have facility needs. Pray for the building Task Force and the Congregation as we look at our future needs.
3. We recently have had a number of visitors and some have stayed. Pray that God would continue to draw people to CPC that further the work of the church.

1. Pray for the work of God’s Spirit among the people of Vermont’s capital city.
2. Pray for the leaders of the Vermont government including Governor Jim Douglas.
3. Pray for God’s blessing upon the church in northern Vermont.

1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff at the main campus of the University of Maine and for the town of Orono.

2. Pray for James Cochell, a recent graduate of Gordon-Conwell (NC campus), and family as they seek the Lord’s guidance and provision regarding relocating to Nashua, NH, to work with Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA).
3. Pray for Mike Viera, a seminary student and candidate under care in NNEP, in the middle of six weeks of training in preparation for a one-year deployment to Afghanistan as a member of the Army reserves. Pray for his wife Andrea and children as they transition back into Army life for this period.

Northern New England Presbytery:
Pray for four members of our presbytery, Per Almquist, Ken Morris, Dan Filicicchia and Jon Taylor, who are in the middle of a short-term missions trip to New Orleans (11/7-11/14) to aid in the reconstruction from Hurricane Katrina. They are working with Redeemer PCA in New Orleans to serve those affected.

1. That the Hope congregation would confidently and reverently approach God in worship, and would eagerly anticipate God causing His sheep in Portsmouth to come when they hear His voice through us.
2. That the Lord would keep us faithfully and diligently serving as those who are sent by Christ to shine His light in the darkness of this city.

1. Please pray for friends and visitors who are in need and that we would minister to them with the love of Christ.
2. Thank God for the opportunities that He continues to give us to teach and to serve.

4. Ask the Lord to aid us in helping young adults and young families in our towns.
5. Ask the Father to draw people in the Exeter area to His Son, and to gather people into the churches, people who are attempting to live Christian lives by themselves- people with no vital connection to the visible church- people who used to worship God with others but ran away from the church and/or were somehow driven away by churches.

Featured Church/Mission: Free Grace Presbyterian Mission, Lewiston, ME (Pastor Per Almquist)
1. Pray for Lewiston-Auburn and all of central Maine. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be moving in a mighty way, calling many to his name. Pray that the church in the area would stand faithful, proclaiming boldly, clearly, and graciously the gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. Pray that those who have been exploring what Free Grace is all about would be drawn to committing to the church. Pray for God to draw others to us for his glory. Pray for those who are coming to hear God's call to them to seek his kingdom first trusting that all else will be added.
3. Rejoice that Jordan's Bridge Christian Counseling is now open and seeing clients. Pray that Ken, our director of counseling, would be able to meet those in the community who know people seeking counseling. Pray that God would draw to Jordan's Bridge the clients he has prepared for Ken.
4. Give thanks for God's provision of a part-time job for Linda to supplement her work for the church. This is an answer to prayer and an encouragement as several others at Free Grace are need of seeing God's providential care in their own lives.
5. Pray that we would rest in the joy of being loved by God. That we would not struggle to earn his love or anything of this earth (including a new church) but find our peace and hope in our triune God whose steadfast love endures forever.

1. Praise God for a great turn out to this year’s Adventure camp with 52 area youth (three-years-old to fifth grade) and the team from Clemson who helped.
2. Praise God for His work in several individual’s and families’ lives.
3. Pray for guidance regarding our current and future facility needs (i.e. Ministry Center and 24/7 space).
4. Ask Him to bless our relationship with the OPC church and specifically for their on-going pastoral search.
5. Ask Him to give our deacons wisdom as we work on identifying and equipping some folks from the congregation to assist them.
6. Ask Him to bless our efforts as a community of faith in demonstrating Christ’s grace to neighbors, co-workers, and friends.

Featured Church/Mission: Church of the Redeemer, Manchester, NH (Pastor Jon Taylor)
1. We praise God for his provision of a 24/7 facility in the heart of the city for office, worship and ministry!
2. Please pray for our Kids’ Club being held in Sheridan-Emmett Park August 10-14 (weather, safety, receptiveness to the Gospel).
3. Please pray for a Pioneer Clubs Ministry we are planning in the fall to reach the families of our neighborhood.
4. Pray for the development of an ESL (English as a Second Language) ministry we’re hoping to launch in January.
5. Pray for the last stages of elder training/examination and particularization, which we hope to complete by the end of 2009.
6. We praise God for several unchurched people who are attending and/or exploring the faith through CTR members.

2. Pray for visitors to attend our worship services.
3. Pray that the Lord would meet our financial needs. Pray that we would receive increased financial support from donors outside of our church (close to half or our budget is based on outside giving).
4. Pray for new members to join our church.
5. Pray for the financial strength of Shiloh Retreat Ministries, full camps, and weekend retreats. Pray for adequate off-site work for Ken Todd and Greg Gordon.

1. Please give thanks for Ted Ogley and his family and the blessing they have been to our church.
2. Please gives thanks for God’s provision of a leased space on Loudon Road and the blessing this has been to our church family.
3. Please pray for our Main Street Market Days outreach July 16-17 and Vacation Bible School the week of July 20.
4. Please pray for the ongoing training of officer candidates and for the continued spiritual and numerical growth of our congregation.

1. Pray for the people of Keene and for the spiritual and material prosperity of people in the western part of New Hampshire.

1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of Keene State College and for the school’s impact on the state through the large number of public school teachers who study there.

Special Prayer Requests for Shiloh Retreat Ministries, Jefferson, NH, and Faith Presbyterian Church (profile), Lancaster, NH
Shiloh: Please pray for adequate income to keep current with expenses and to pay down the outstanding property tax bill and camp ground engineering fees. Please ask the Lord to fill our weekends with retreats and our 4 weeks of camp; please also pray that the Lord would continue to provide ministry coordinators Ken Todd and Greg Gordon with off-site work through early July and again as soon as camp ends.
Faith Presbyterian Church:
a. Praise God for the 32 children that attended our day camp (June 22-26). Pray that God would produce fruit from this ministry and that our church would be able to follow up with these families.
b. Pray for visitors to attend our worship services.
c. Pray that the Lord would meet our financial needs and close the current $5,000 budget short fall. Pray that we would receive increased financial support from donors outside of our church (close to half or our budget is based on outside giving).

1. Covenant Children: We are very thankful for the number of children that have been added to our congregation over the past few years. Please pray for parents to be faithful in the Christian nurture of their children and pray for those who will serve as Sunday School teachers beginning this fall. Also, pray for the Lord’s protection and care for the four women in our church who are currently expecting.
2. Leadership: Pray that the Lord would grant our session the wisdom, energy, and love that we need to shepherd this congregation. Pray that the Lord would raise up additional elders and deacons for our congregation through the officer training classes that is beginning this month.
3. Outreach: Pray for the members of our church to be bold and intentional about speaking to their non-Christian neighbors, co-workers, and acquaintances about Christ and inviting them to our church.
4. Pray for our summer intern, Mike Viera, along with his wife Andrea and their three children.

1. That the Hope congregation would approach God with confident reverence in worship, and would approach Portsmouth with expectant contentment that those who are His sheep will hear His voice and come to Him.

3. That the Peacemaker study would have a sanctifying effect in the lives of the small group members.

1. That we as a congregation would live in such a way that Jesus Christ is Lord of our lives.

3. Pray for protection from the Evil One and failure of his attempts to cause division.
4. Pray that we would be completely humble and gentle, bearing with one another in love.

1. Pray that God’s grace would be known among the people of Burlington.
2. Pray for the students, faculty, administration, and staff at the University of Vermont.

Prayer Update - April 27, 2009

Featured Church/Mission: Exeter Presbyterian Church (Pastor Steve Magee)
1. Please pray for those who will have attended our first Big Questions forum on Bioethics on May 1st. Our panel (Exeter's State Senator Maggie Hassan, local pathologist Phil Tisdall, and OPC pastor Greg Reynolds), will speak from different perspectives on the question of human dignity, and the limits that a respect for this places on scientific research. Pray for the forum itself, and then especially for whatever fruitfulness the Lord will choose to bring from this event after the forum.
2. Thank God for His provision of two additional elders and a new deacon, and for the peace that we have enjoyed together as leaders and as a congregation. Our three year theme is Unity in Christ, in prayer, word, and service.
3. Please pray for our expanding weekly Women's Study groups that Candy is leading. They are studying heaven together. Please also pray for a GriefShare class that Candy and I are planning to lead beginning in September.
4. We are studying the Kingdom of God and the Means of Grace for the next ten weeks in adult Sunday School. Please pray that we will all seek and find greater communion with God and further fruitfulness of faith working through love as a result of these studies. Please also pray for the good use of the daily and weekly written tools that are produced for the spiritual growth of those who wish to use them.
5. Ask the Father to draw people in the Exeter area to His Son, and to gather people into the churches, people who are attempting to live Christian lives by themselves- people with no vital connection to the visble church- people who used to worship God with others but ran away from the church and/or were somehow driven away by churches.

1. Pray for the people of Saco, Biddeford, and Old Orchard Beach, located south of Portland on the Atlantic coast.
2. Pray for the progress of the Reformation of the church in this region and for the raising up of those who would be involved in planting a PCA church in these communities.

1. Praise God for working out the house sale and purchase for Ken and Linda Morris moving to Lewiston from St. Louis to help with the church plant Free Grace.
2. Praise God for a group of folks interested in the up-coming Introduction to Christ the Redeemer Presbyterian Church class in early May.
3. Pray for guidance regarding our current facility and future needs (ie Ministry Center and 24/7 space).
4. Ask Him to bless our relationship with the OPC church.
5. Ask Him to give our deacons wisdom as they work on the budget draft.
6. Ask Him to bless our efforts as a community of faith in demonstrating Christ’s grace to neighbors, co-workers, and friends.

1. Pray for the people of the thirteen towns that make lakes region of central Maine.
2. Pray for the further establishment of the church in this region and for ministry opportunities among the many summer visitors to the area.

1. We praise God for his provision of a 24/7 facility in the heart of the city for office, worship and ministry!
2. Please pray for God to bless our efforts to meet and reach the people in the neighborhoods around Maple and Beech streets.
3. Please pray for a children's outreach during Spring break and a Kids' Club we're planning for the summer.
4. Pray for God to connect our men and grow us in leadership as we begin some new accountability groups.
5. Pray for two elder candidates and two deacon candidates that are training for leadership and for our plans for particularization later this year.

1. Pray for God’s blessing upon the people of Augusta, the capital of Maine.

Featured Church/Mission: Faith Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, NH (Pastor Mike Kooy)
1. Pray for our church to be bold with the Gospel in our community. Pray that the Lord would draw people to Himself and bring visitors to our church from our community.
2. Pray for continued financial support for our church. Ask the Lord to provide work for people in our congregation and in this community. Pray also for the additional funds needed for health insurance for our pastor.
3. Pray that the Lord would bless our Day Camp, which runs from June 22-26. Ask the Lord to supply us with the help we need to run the camp. Pray also for many unbelieving children to come to the camp to hear the Gospel and for us to make contact with their parents and other family members.
4. Pray for continued unity in our church and a deeper desire to glorify God in all areas of our lives.

1. Pray for God’s blessing upon people of Hanover and Lebanon, NH, and White River Junction, VT.

1. Pray for the core group of Free Grace as they wait upon the Lord for His direction and seek Him for the proclamation of the Gospel in their region.
2. Pray for those among the Free Grace community being impacted by the economic challenges of our day and for their trust in the faithfulness of God during this time.
3. Give thanks that Ken and Linda Morris have received an offer on their home in St. Louis at their full asking price and pray that the completion of the sale will go smoothly. Pray too that they will be able to raise the last portion of their support necessary before they are able to move to Maine.
