Prayer Update - October 20, 2010

Featured Church/Mission: Church of the Redeemer (profile), Manchester, New Hampshire (Pastor Jon Taylor)
1. We praise God for growth in our English as a Second Language (ESL) ministry and for deepening relationships. Please pray for God's word to bring fruit.
2. Pray for our Pioneer Club ministry on Thursday nights, that God would provide more leaders to help minister to the growing numbers of children who are coming.
3. Pray for our church to grow in understanding of our distinctives without becoming insulated in them from our neighborhood and city.
4. Pray for several people who are suffering physically, that they would find their sufficiency in Christ, and that he would sustain them.
5. Pray for God's help in boldly and lovingly speaking and living the gospel to our families, friends, neighbors and coworkers.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: Montpelier, Vermont (profile)
1. Pray for the work of God’s Spirit among the people of Vermont’s capital city.
2. Pray for the leaders of the Vermont government including Governor Jim Douglas.
3. Pray for God’s blessing upon the church in northern Vermont.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: University of Maine (profile), Orono, Maine
1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff at the main campus of the University of Maine in the summer ahead and for the town of Orono.
2. Pray for the campus ministries at the University of Maine, including Campus Crusade for Christ, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and the Maine Christian Association.

MNA Committee work:
Burlington: Continue to pray for the committee’s work toward preparing for a joint church planting/RUF work in Burlington, VT. Pray in particular for:
1. The lead candidate as he begins the process of transitioning.
2. Pray for progress in sharing the vision with possible prayer and financial partners, that we might see this work well-established in these areas as we begin.

NNEP:
Herb Shipman: Continue to pray for adequate support to be forthcoming to support Pastor Shipman in his work as an evangelist to the dairy farming community of northern Vermont.
NNEP Mission’s Conference: Pray for the Mission’s Conference to be held Nov. 5-6. Pray that this might be an encouraging time for the visiting missionaries and the work of the committee.

Prayer Update - October 6, 2010

Featured Church/Mission: Faith Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, New Hampshire (Pastor Mike Kooy)
1. Pray for our Christmas outreach in Lancaster NH.

2. Pray that the Lord would help our members invite their families and friends to church. Ask the Lord to make us bold witnesses for Christ and that He would gather in His elect in our community.

3. We praise God for the visitors who have come to our church from the community and those traveling through the area on vacation.

4. Shiloh Retreat Ministries: pray that the Lord would fill fall and winter retreat calendar for 2010-2011.

Featured Potential Church Planting Site: seacoast of southern Maine (profile links below)
1. Pray for the people of Saco, Biddeford, and Old Orchard Beach, located south of Portland on the Atlantic coast.
2. Pray for the reformation of the church in this region and for the raising up of those who would be involved in planting a PCA church in these communities.

Featured Potential College Ministry Site: University of Southern Maine (profile), Portland, Maine (main campus)
1. Pray for the students, faculty, and staff of University of Southern Maine, part of Maine public university system, as they conclude the academic year.
2. Pray for the involvement of members of Christ the Redeemer Presbyterian (PCA) on campus and for the work of Campus Crusade for Christ and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.

MNA Committee work:
Burlington: Continue to pray for the committee’s work toward preparing for a joint church planting/RUF work in Burlington, VT. Pray in particular for:
1. Pray for the lead candidate and his wife as they consider God’s call upon them and for those who are considering joining them in this work.
2. Pray for wisdom in the search for an RUF candidate in the Burlington area.
3. Pray for progress in sharing the vision with possible prayer and financial partners and for wisdom in how to move ahead in these areas.
Other: Pray for the committee’s next meeting on October 13. Pray that the committee members will have the strength and stamina to complete the many tasks before them.
NNEP:
Meeting: Pray for God’s blessing upon next Saturday’s NNEP meeting in Exeter, NH (October 16).
Herb Shipman: Continue to pray for adequate support to be forthcoming to support Pastor Shipman in his work as an evangelist to the dairy farming community of northern Vermont.
Mike Viera: Continue to pray for Mike, a candidate under care in the presbytery, during his year-long deployment to Afghanistan as a member of the Army reserves and for his wife and three children.
